Hakka Yam Abacus Seeds
Introducing the kids to this Hakka specialty, especially when they can get hands-on and help out in making the abacus seeds!
Ingredients:
Abacus Seeds
500g yam
250g tapioca flour
125g hot water
Condiments
1 carrot, cut into strips
10 large dried mushrooms, pre-soaked and cut into strips
Mushroom water (from pre-soaking the dried mushrooms in hot water AFTER washing it clean)
Dried shrimps, pre-soaked
Chopped garlic
Chopped shallots
Chopped coriander
Seasonings
1 tbsp light soya sauce
2 tbsps chinese hua tiao wine
1 tbsp oyster sauce
1 tsp sugar
salt & pepper to taste
